Open House followed by Speaker Series: "State of the Oceans"

Open House -- bring a potluck hors d'oeuvres

"State of the Oceans"

Continuing the effort to combine Open House with speakers and presentations of general interest to members we are fortunate to have a lead scientist from the Farallon institute - based in Petaluma - join us. State of the Oceans science talks are informal and inspirational presentations on the latest scientific understanding of the ocean. Topics span global issues such as ocean acidification to regional changes impacting our fisheries off norther California. Farallon Institute scientists work on the atmosphere, physical ocean, and the complex marine food web from phyto-plankton to whales. They have a broad understanding of ocean ecology and are experts at understanding the latest scientific research and communicating what it all means. For those of us who derive so much pleasure from our lives on and around the ocean this is a great opportunity to learn from the experts who are racing to develop the solutions to the conservation challenges facing us today.
